summary of my idle days ( Part 4 )

I LOVE MY FRIENDS AND I LOVE SHOPPING!!!!

So when i get them both at the same time, its WHOHOO!!

When Adeline aka Budak Chong came back from Malacca, we NEEDED to SHOP. Its in our blood. But where shall we go? Anywhere in JB is just sad. Well i know. SINGAPORE!! Now we have found our destination, we round up our shopping kaki, Nithya the poor monkey that was eaten by a man.

So the 3 of us went on a shopping spree!! As i had something to do in NUS, the two lovelies accompanied me there and on our way back , we overheard the most PECULIAR and INTRIGUING conversation. Something along the lines of  " I have been to almost all the Starbucks in Singapore. So i know which are the best ones to study in. If you need to know i can tell you. I will recommend the best studying spots for you! ". Like what in the world??? The 3 of us suppressed our giggles and gosh, i think i felt a couple of capillaries bursting.

We went to Takashimaya if i remember correctly. SHOP SHOP SHOP! TILL WE DROP!! Budak Chong and Nithya the Monkey were sobbing silent tears in Cotton On because the stuff that they bought earlier are ALL ON CRAZY SALES.

Had MOS burger for lunch. For dinner, we ordered carrot cake, Singapore prawn noodle, popiah and shared among us. I love sharing food. Some may hate it but i LOVE IT. Makes me feel closer to the people i am sharing with and the food taste better!

Whatever.

Girls, please stop.

Sorry we CAN'T!!

Adeline decided that the trip was not enough as we were regretting about the things we did not manage to buy ( insufficient funds). So the next week , both of us invited another shopping kaki, Sharmilipede to join us in our shopping!!

This time round we went to Taka again to get the stuff that we missed out. BUT all GONE. POOF. FINISH. NO MORE. Feeling disappointed , we went around scouting for Subway for lunch. DAMN HARD TO FIND !! Walked like crazy before we located our morsels. YUMMOS!

Then we ventured to Bugis. I introduced Sharm and Adeline to the wonders of that place. Both of them SHOPPED LIKE CRAZY! Me. Not so much as i just went to Bugis a couple of weeks earlier.

Both of them had Pepper Lunch for dinner. I ate the leftover Sub i had for lunch.

Sharmilipede and I.

 NICE!

I HEART MY FRIENDS SO MUCH!!

THANKS TO BUDAK CHONG, NITHYA THE MONKEY AND SHARMILIPEDE FOR THE WONDERFUL TIME AND MEMORIES !! LOVE YOU GUYS TO BITS !!

NEXT UP : Outing with long lost KL lovelies and Olivia the Confused Giraffe's birthday bash and more!

Toodles.

summary of my idle days ( Part 3 )

Usually i am a skeptic about marriages. I will have dozens of arguments about why one can be NOT married AND enjoy the company of  your other half  AND still be very happy. To me, marriage is fragile. We cannot keep two people together FOREVER just because they have a marriage certificate. Things change. People change. Feelings change. Nothing is forever. Not getting married just simplifies the process that one has to go through when changes come.

However for this SPECIAL occasion, I am willing to stash my cynical comments away and bask in the beautiful ambience of marriage.

History : This cousin of mine, Charmaine is my best cousin ever. Her mummy, my beloved aunt takes care of me since i was a little baby. They are like my second family. LOVE THEM LOADS!!! Anyway, Charmaine always bring me to places and shower me with gifts ( i promise i will do the same to her children when she have some) We care about each other and are very close.

AND SHE IS GETTING MARRIED!!

Usually, i kind of hate it when people get married.  Its not that i am bitter and hate all happy things. It is just that i hate being dragged to wedding ceremonies of people i barely know (eg : some cousin i barely spoke five words to for my entire existance), acting like i sincerely care when i do not give a damn. Wedding receptions are good though, food changes everything!! XD

This time round. I am really excited !!

Reasons:
  • I like my cousin's husband-to-be
He is Jason. He is nice and sweet to my cousin. He is also very filial to my uncle and aunt. He hits on well with everyone in the family ( i've got an uncle who act as if he has got diamonds in his mouth, when he opens it the diamonds will drop out ). And, he brings me to places!! Once he brought us to have a ride on the " Eye of Singapore " . Whee!! Generally , he is a great person.

  • I get to be the maid of honor.
Okay, its only right get excited as it is my FIRST time ever becoming a maid of honor. Great honour!! WHEE!!

  • I love my cousin!!

On the BIG day, i arrived early at my aunt's place to get ready. All the bridesmaid were there . I arrived the latest, big shot. HAHA. Nolarh, my dad's problem. Always slow. Anyway, got ready and the groom finally arrived!!

Dressing up.

My uncle and aunt putting on the veil for my cousin.

Arrival of the bridegroom, Jason.

What would a wedding be without pranks by the bridemaids.

Leg waxing so that guys can understand the pains of being a women.

Drinking sour, sweet, bitter and spicy juices ( " suan tian ku lak " in chinese) symbolises the ups and down in their relationship.
.

Putting fresh cream of the chest of a guy and asking another guy to LICK IT UP!! GROSS BUT SUPER FUNNY. Laughed till i teared. I suppose this is just for the sake of fun?

Groom writing or rather , scribbling messages to the bride using his mouth.

Rolling hot eggs through the pants of one of the guys by the groom. This look so wrong!!

Declaration of love in ten languages.

YAY!

The groom kisses the bride.

Fyi, the groom was let in easily as my great-grandpa (GGP)  arrived after the groom and well, obviously  my GGP cannot wait outside as he is very OLD (but healthy). So the groom conveniently came in after my GGP. Oh well.

Tea ceremony.

Serving tea to my uncle and aunt.

My cousin putting on the golden necklace that he bought for his sister. Sweet!!

OMG. Something happened to me during the tea ceremony. I was seriously tearing up. DUNNO WHY!! I was so touched by the entire ceremony. Never in my life had it happened before. I quickly stashed my tears away before anyone notices and laughs at me.

Girls' Power!

Then i followed my cousin to the groom's place. Tea ceremony there.

Jason's parents at the tea ceremony.

My cousin's friends then dropped me back to my aunts place . Charmaine's friends are as whacko as my friends are. Jokers. Went home from there to get ready to MAKAN at the reception at Straits View Restaurant.

Nice decor!

Writing wishes to the newly-weds

My aunt look so gorgeous right?!

Happy Happy

Oh the cake looks GOOD.

Group picture.

My family attended the wedding reception in Ipoh too. Gluttons. We travelled around Ipoh eating all the good and famous stuff. I realised that those restourants love to put up pictures of celebrities that visited their place before. Could the pictures be photoshopped?

Group pic in Ipoh.

We also went to Penang's Kek Lok Si and Gurney Drive. More yummos. I could literally feel my arteries clogging by eating those yummy but sinful goodies. On our way back, went to Malacca for Capitol Satay. YUM!

NEXT UP : Singapore trips with Budak Chong , Sharmilipede and Niya The Monkey and more!!

summary of my idle days ( Part 2 )

Woohoo!!

Its travelling time!

After i stopped working in Citibank,  I received the invitation for some NUS reception in KL. I also needed to go for a Japanese Scholarship exam (which i sucked in, duh!!) in KL . So i called lovely esther and asked her about any cheap and nice accomodation in KL since she had been residing there for years. LOVELY esther ACTUALLY OFFERED ME TO STAY AT HER PLACE !!  How AWESOME can this friend be???

So i took her offer up and OFF TO KL !!

Travelling there was rather tiring but it was alright as the seats are rather spacious. Fyi, esther insisted that i travel using Causeway Link and it was a great choice. I later found out that there is an art of selecting the correct bus company to travel with.

I waited for esther and melissa in the Bukit Jalil bus station for a while as mel had an interview and then they were caught up in a jam.

Then, YAYNESS!! Finally met them. I felt really glad as it has been a long long time since i saw my old friends. XD

WE had dinner at Kenny Rogers. After that, we went for grocery shopping in Jusco.

I stayed in esthers and mel's place. Three of us bunked in the same room. FUN! Esther and i chatted till we fell asleep leaving mel to check out the routes for the next day.

CLEVER MEL!

Three of us manage to arrive at the NUS reception savely. No comments about the reception. Tsk Tsk. For tea , the hotel served wonderful cookies that we KEPT eating. We regretted not bringing tupperware to tapau those lovely treats. Esther suggested tissue paper though. How typical of us, right?

After the reception, we had a walked through Petaling Street. Drank the wonderful Lor Han Kuo drink and had fantastic beef noodles (recommended by mel ) for lunch.

I look funny, i know. Just wanted to show you guys the drinks okay!

Esther and I

Beef noodles!

Three monkeys!

Showing off my new shades! Mel sure knows how to haggle for a good price.

On our journey to Sungei Wang

Then, we WALKED to Sungei Wang. Yes. WE WALKED. Not a good suggestion though. Our legs nearly snap into two when we reached there. Miraculously, all our fatigue melted away when the shopping began. We shopped and shopped and shopped. Bought lots of stuff. Obviously. Ouh ya, esther treated us to  yummylicious durian pancakes. SEDAP!

We then travelled back to Sunway Pyramid for our movie. We were almost late so we didi not have dinner. We were to tired to feel fungry anyway. After the movie, the girls brought me for a treat in Italiannies. Had lagsana and a great cappacino dessert (cannot remember what it is called). Mel also suprised us with Krispy Kreme. Yums.

The pie!

Went back to hostel and chatted about everything under the sun. From religion to spooky stuff back in Convent. I even remember the last conversation with esther before i conked out was about Elvin Ng and his body. Muahahaha.

The school. Had a hard time locating it.

The next day, esther accompanied me to the exam place. SHE WAITED FOR ME THE WHOLE TIME OUTSIDE THE HALL. LIKE FOR HOW MANY GODDAMN HOURS. Poor esther, such a nice friend. After the exam, she brought me to the bus station, made sure i was save and then only she leaves.

I am so grateful for a friend like esther. So selfless and kind.

YOU"LL BE MY BESTFRIEND FOREVER ESTHER!!!

NEXT UP : My gorgeous cousin's wedding and more!

summary of my idle days ( Part 1)

I have been an idle for almost 8 long months now. Sitting at home doing nothing. But, did i really do NOTHING??

Nah.

Okay, this is sort of a summary of what i did for the past months of utter freedom. This is the beauty of blogging. So i can keep track of my life. So that i will not accidentally eliminate any precious memories from my dodo brain.

  1. I had a job .
I worked in Citibank as a Customer Service officer. I remember i went for the interview together with Eileen and we were dying to get a job so that we could stop rotting at home. We got the job and the pay was GOOD. Or so i thought. Initially i enjoyed working. The people are nice and helpful (some, actually). The job was challenging and interesting. The pay was GOOD.

Then comes the downside. Stupid, arrogant, kiasu customers all day long. They will complain about every single thing under the sun. I do not understand but some of them have the mindset that if they are the customers then we, the Customer Service Officers are their maids/ servants and we have to deal with every single thing for them. Sad cases. However, some of them are such darlings. Polite, well-spoken, understanding. Servicing these people often make my day.

And another thing that i dislike is the rigid rules of working there. Everytime we move from our seat is like commiting some sort of sin. Seriously. We are expected to glue our butts to the chair until the end of our shift (preferbly later). We have to report our every move. Toilet. Lunch. Pantry etc. For example, we will get hunted down like a rat if we went to the toilet for more than 7 minutes. Craziness. We cannot wear skirts higher than our knees. Excuse me, am i still in primary school??  I really loathe it when people try to control me. Seriously, even my parents do not control me that way, so i suppose they have no right to do so.

And the thing that i really cannot stand and ultimately lead me to leaving the working scene after a mere 2 months is the BORINGNESS of the job. Can you imagine saying " Good morning/ afternoon/ evening , thank you for calling Citibank. My name is Shen Yee. How may i assist you today? " more than 60 times everyday??. Dealing with the same issues. Nothing challenging day after day. Every working day is mundane and NOTHING EVER CHANGES. I do not feel accomplished with the job. No sense of achievement and satisfaction.

Despite all that, i managed to learn some banking stuff so i am not such a bank-noob now. I also enjoyed the company of my newly found lovelies( cannot remember some of their names though) , Eileen and Wawa. Their company makes working ALMOST  bearable. All in all, it is a good learning experience and one thing i learned is i DO NOT want to work as  Customer Service Officer ever again!!

NEXT UP:  My lovely time travelling up to KL to meet up with lovely esther and much more.

Toodles.

whee!!

I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF.

And i have every reason to be. Fyi, i made it all the way to NUS and back on my own !!

It seemed like an almost impossible task as i had never travelled to a place that i had not been to previously all by myself  ( to Adeline and Nithya : The place that i needed to get to in NUS this time is different from the one we went the other time, okay. Different route. )

On the previous night, i woke up suddenly, realising that i DO NOT know where to go after alighting from the MRT in Clementi. True enough, after alighting, i proceeded to the WRONG bus terminal. Teehee. Lucky for me , before going up the bus, i checked with the driver and he told me that the bus number is correct ( 183 ) but im supposed to take the bus from the other terminal. Phew.

Finally i went up the correct bus. I needed to get to the Science Park 2, which is fine except for the fact that i did not know where to alight. I consulted the driver and he told me to alight at the first bus stop in Science Park 2. Fine. I thought that he would give me some sort of a signal but he DID NOT. I MISSED THE STOP. DIE. The saint of a driver was SO helpful. He laughed at me when i went to him and did a U-turn so that i could get down at the right place.TWO THUMBS UP FOR SINGAPORE BUS DRIVERS !! He even gave me directions to walk to PGPR, my destination.

So i walked and walked and there was NOTHING.  I was like, WTH. So i went to this old uncle and asked for his assistance. He did not know but he helped me asked another guy. That guy told me that PGPR was on the other side, so i had to walk all the way back to the original spot and climb another mountain. DAMN. I was tired already. Should have just taken a taxi.

Anyway, i FINALLY made it to PGPR!!!

But now i have to find the foyer. Lucky for me, i asked a nice indian guy for directions and he brought me there. Save my energy for finding the place.

I LOVE ALL THE HELPFUL PEOPLE THERE!!

Orientation was nothing memorable. Did medical check up. Gotten Singapore number.

Met interesting or should i say intriguing people. Ask me if you want to know because i cannot put it down in my blog for OBVIOUS reasons.

Toodles.
